 COME JOIN THE PARTY!
THE CAT'S OUT OF THE BAG! A few folks were planning a small, surprise house warming luncheon for Joy Alford on the 19th of October, but as the word got around more and more people wanted to participate, and the number continues to grow. Due to the enthusiasm of so many, the celebration is being announced so that all are welcomed to join in a HOUSEWARMING FOR JOY. Gifts are not necessary, but anyone wishing to bring a gift is asked to bring a gift card for Joy from your favorite store.  Please bring a "finger food" to share during Fellowship as we congratulate Joy on her new home. Sunday, October 19th, Noon, Vaughan Fellowship Hall.

Forum – Sunday, October 19, 9:15am
Giving Low Wage Workers a Voice - Fast food CEOs are some of the highest paid in the U.S.  Fast food workers are some of the lowest paid in the economy.  Their wages have increased just 0.3 percent in real dollars since 2000.  The ratio of CEO pay to the employees is over 1,000 to 1.  One out of 2 fast food workers' families depends on public assistance that costs taxpayers nearly 7 billion dollars nationally.  In North Carolina $264 million is spent every year to provide public assistance for 54% of fast-food workers.  A speaker from NC Raise Up will share information about their efforts to improve fast food workers' pay and help employees receive a livable wage.

Pray at the Legislature
Every Tuesday, from 12:30pm to 1:00pm, Duane Beck from the Mennonite Church meets with some of us. Go in the front door off of Jones Street. Turn left and meet at a table in the garden area.  Scriptures will be provided if requested. Contact Adrienne Little for additional information.

Come Help PLM Families Together Grow!
PLM Families Together has received a free playground for the families they support!  Now, all they need are people to help them install it!  The group is asking for volunteers on any of the following three dates - October 27, 28, 29 - for various tasks from building, to signing people in, to helping with children's activities, medical volunteers, and food.  Builders must be 14 years or older, but there will be activities available for younger children to participate in on October 29.  PLM FT would love to have a strong CUCC presence helping out.  If you are interested in learning more about this fun opportunity, please contact Laurel Powell at laurel.powell@gmail.com.

Fall Congregational Meeting
The annual fall congregational meeting is scheduled for November 23 at Noon in the Vaughan Fellowship Hall.  At this meeting, we will hear a preliminary report on development of the 2015 budget from the Stewardship Ministry, and a preliminary report from the Nominating Committee on next year’s officers and ministry members.
